Bard for Life

When you hear that there’s an event happening called “Bard for Life”, you’d think of a traditional D&D bard, right? Singing and story-telling, and maybe a fancy outfit.
But you know what’s even better than a bard? A Gleeman! While they originate from the same sources–medieval traveling entertainers–they are not quite the same thing today. A gleeman is still an itinerant poet and storyteller, but bards are more minstrels, focusing on instrument and song.
And a friend of mine, who is a master storyteller and official gleeman, will be doing an event at LTUE on Thursday night, and I’m so excited to go!
I’m not talking it up because he’s my friend. No, I want to share this with y’all because I’ve heard this man tell stories. And he really is a master at it. Like, if you’ve never heard a master storyteller in person, you are seriously missing out. The man always crits his performance checks. I kid you not. I was entranced, the first time I attended one of his storytelling events.
